Moscow, Russia – A Russian-US workshop 'Does the JCPOA Have a Future?' was held jointly by the Center for Energy and Security Studies and the Brookings Institution (USA). The meeting was attended by representatives of Russian and US think-tanks and academia, as well as of Russian MFA. The Director of Russian MFA's Department for Nonproliferation and Arms Control (DNKV) Vladimir Ermakov addressed the participants as Keynote Speaker.

The presentation was delivered by Robert Einhorn, Fmr. Assistant Secretary of State for Nonproliferation, currently - Senior Fellow, Arms Control and Non-Proliferation Initiative at Brookings Institution. The meeting was attended by Russian and US representatives of think-tanks and academia.

Moscow, Russia – A workshop ‘Prospects for Nuclear Energy in Japan Seven Years After Fukushima' was held by the Center for Energy and Security Studies. The presentation was delivered by Dr. Tatsujiro Suzuki, Fmr. Vice Chairman of Japan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC), currently Professor at Nagasaki University. The meeting was attended by representatives of think-tanks, of Russian nuclear industry, as well as by diplomats from the Embassy of Japan to Russia.

Saint-Petersburg, Russia – CENESS Director Anton Khlopkov chaired a lecture by the Fmr. U.S. Secretary of Defense and Fmr. U.S. President's Special Envoy to North Korea William J. Perry for students of Strategic Studies and Arms Control Master's Program at the Saint-Petersburg State University. The conversation titled ‘Crisis on the Korean Peninsula: Is a Win-Win Solution Available?' was organized with assistance of the Center for Energy and Security Studies.

Moscow, Russia - The Russian capital hosted the 2017 Moscow Nonproliferation Conference, organised by CENESS. The event brought together 259 experts and officials from more than 40 countries and international organisations to discuss the most pressing issues in areas of nonproliferation, disarmament and peaceful uses of atomic energy. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Rosatom's Deputy Director General Nikolay Spasskiy and Executive Secretary of the CTBTO Preparatory Commission Lassina Zerbo addressed the 2017 MNC participants as Keynote Speakers.

Moscow, Russia - Center for Energy and Security Studies (CENESS) and James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS) jointly held the fourth regular Russian-US Dialogue on Nuclear Issues. The meeting on ‘Dimensions of Strategic Stability in Russian-US Relations' took place at ‘Bunker-42 Taganka' Museum & Conference Complex, the former Tagansky Protected Command Point of Strategic Long-Range Aviation of the Soviet Union, a huge underground facility, located in the heart of Moscow at a depth of 65 meters.

Vienna, Austria - Center for Energy and Security Studies (CENESS) and James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS) jointly held the third regular Russian-US Dialogue on Nuclear Issues on ‘U.S.-Russian Cooperation at Vienna- and Geneva-based International Organizations'. Representatives of Russian and US think-tanks and diplomatic missions in Vienna took part in the meeting. Dr. Lassina Zerbo, Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization, delivered a keynote address at the opening reception.

Astana, Kazakhstan - On May 24-25 the Center for Energy and Security Studies (CENESS) and the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) co-organized a workshop on 'Strengthening the Security of Radioactive Sources in Central Asia', with the support of IAEA and the Government of Kazakhstan. The event brought together more than 50 representatives from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as specialists and experts from Russia (including Rosatom State Corporation and Rostechnadzor) and the USA (including Department of Energy).

Dr. Siegfried Hecker, Professor at Stanford University and former Director of Los Alamos National Laboratory (USA) made a keynote presentation during the meeting. Representatives of Russian governmental bodies, think-tanks and academia, as well as members of the Stanford University delegation took part in the event.
