About the Conference

The 2017 Moscow Nonproliferation Conference will bring together 200 experts and officials from more than 40 countries and international organizations to discuss and brainstorm the most pressing issues related to the international nuclear nonproliferation regime. In 2018 it will be 50 years since the opening for signature of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), which is the central element of the nuclear nonproliferation regime and one of the most universal international security documents. The current state of the treaty and prospects for the 2020 NPT Review Cycle will therefore be one of the main topics on the Conference agenda.

Other key topics will include the sustainability of the JCPOA and the role of multilateral diplomacy in defusing the nuclear crisis on the Korean peninsula.

The 2017 Moscow Nonproliferation Conference (2017 MNC) will commence in the evening of October 19 with the opening reception, hosted by the Russian Foreign Ministry. The sessions will begin on October 20 and close in the afternoon of October 21. The working languages of the event are Russian and English. Simultaneous interpretation will be provided.

The Conference is organized by the Center for Energy and Security Studies (CENESS) and will be chaired by Mr. Anton Khlopkov, CENESS Director and member of the Advisory Board under the Security Council of the Russian Federation.
