Professor of International Policy Faculty, Moscow State University. Works in the Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO) since 1973. The author of more than 80 publications, including The big five. Arms Control Decision-Making in the Soviet Union, co-authored with Nikolay Detinov (1995) and Political and Military-Strategic Aspects of Start-1 and Start-2 Treaties (Moscow, IMEMO, 2000). In 19891991 participated in Soviet-American START-1 negotiations (Defense and Space Talks) representing the Academy of Sciences as an Adviser to the Soviet Delegation. Dr. Savelyev is a well-known specialist in the field of Russian-American strategic relations, arms control, nuclear doctrines and strategy, national security and decision-making.
