Asad DURRANI, Lt.–Gen. (ret.), Fmr. Director-General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (1990–1992); Fmr. Ambassador to Germany (1994–1997) and Saudi Arabia (2000–2002), Pakistan Asad Durrani is an acknowledged Pakistani diplomat and high-rank military officer. His work at Pakistani foreign service included position of Ambassador to Saudi Arabia (2000-2002) and Ambassador to Germany (1994-1997). Before retiring from the Army in 1993, Asad Durrani held a number of top-rank posts, including Inspector General of Training and Evaluation at the Army Headquarters, and Commandant of the National Defence College (now a University). During his military career that started in 1959, he was instructor at the Military Academy and the Command & Staff College. In 1988 he was appointed Director General of the Military Intelligence (MI) and in 1990, head of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). He is a graduate of the Government College University (Pakistan) and of the German General Staff Academy. |
