CONCURRENT SESSION 1: Sanctions in Nonproliferation: Helpful or Counterproductive?

Dmitry KIKU, Expert, The Panel of Experts Established Pursuant to UN Security Council Resolution 1874 (2009)


Mr. Kiku joined the Panel of Experts on the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in June 2014. He was reappointed by UN Secretary General António Guterres most recently in April 2017 to serve on the Panel.

Previously, Mr. Kiku had been working as a career diplomat in Russia and abroad since 1997. He served in Berlin (Germany) and Baku (Azerbaijan). In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation he was involved in United Nations Security Council sanctions related matters, including assistance to Russian government agencies involved in implementing UNSC resolutions and coordination of inter-agency cooperation in this area.

Mr. Kiku earned his BA degree in Economics at Moscow University of Cooperation and holds a PhD in Political Science from Russian Diplomatic Academy.
