PLENARY SESSION VI: JCPOA Implementation: Achievements, Challenges, and Long-Term Sustainability

Sergey RYABKOV, Ambassador; Deputy Foreign Minister, Russian Federation


Sergey Ryabkov serves as a Deputy Foreign Minister of Russian Federation since 2008. He is supervising, inter alia, issues of nonproliferation, arms control, and Russian–US relations. Sergey Ryabkov has been Head of the Russian delegation at P5+1 talks with Iran on its nuclear program and currently overlooks JCPOA-related issues at the MFA of Russia.

For his efforts that contributed to a successful conclusion of the JCPOA Sergey Ryabkov was awarded with ‘For Merit to the Fatherland’ Order of IV class. In 2008 he received the Order of Friendship.

He has previously served as a Director of the Department of European Cooperation at the MFA of Russia from 2005 to 2008. Beforehand he occupied different posts at the Embassy of Russia in the United States (1999–2005).

Graduated from the Moscow State Institute for International Relations (MGIMO-University) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
