Ambassador Grigory Berdennikov is one of the top Russian diplomats with an area of expertise in nonproliferation and arms control. Until 2015 served in capacity of Ambassador-at-Large at the MFA of Russia.

His career of a nonproliferation and arms control diplomat was marked by a number of important milestones. He led the Russian delegation to the negotiations of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) in 1996. He was Deputy head of the Soviet delegation at the negotiations on the Chemical Weapons Convention and Russian Ambassador to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva (1993-1998). Sherpa for the Nuclear Security Summits in 2010, 2012, and 2014. Governor from Russia at the IAEA Board of Governors (2003-2015). Participant of the NPT Review Conferences in 1985 and 1995.

Grigory Berdennikov served as Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the International Organizations in Vienna from 2001 to 2007. In 1999-2001 and in 1992-1993 he held a position of a Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia.

Graduated from the Moscow State Institute for International Relations (MGIMO-University) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
