Vienna, Austria - Center for Energy and Security Studies (CENESS) and James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS) jointly held the third regular US-Russia Dialogue on Nuclear Issues on U.S.-Russian Cooperation at Vienna- and Geneva-based International Organizations'. Representatives of Russian and US think-tanks and diplomatic missions in Vienna took part in the meeting. Dr. Lassina Zerbo, Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization, delivered a keynote address at the opening reception.

Astana, Kazakhstan - On May 24-25 the Center for Energy and Security Studies (CENESS) and the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) co-organized a workshop on 'Strengthening the Security of Radioactive Sources in Central Asia', with the support of IAEA and the Government of Kazakhstan. The event brought together more than 50 representatives from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as specialists and experts from Russia (including Rosatom State Corporation and Rostechnadzor) and the USA (including Department of Energy).

Moscow, Russia - Center for Energy and Security Studies (CENESS) held a roundtable workshop on Can President Trump Make a Deal with North Korea?'. Dr. Siegfried Hecker, Professor at Stanford University and former Director of Los Alamos National Laboratory (USA) made a keynote presentation during the meeting. Representatives of Russian governmental bodies, think-tanks and academia, as well as members of the Stanford University delegation took part in the event.

New Delhi, India - CENESS Director Anton Khlopkov gave a talk on The Global Agenda on Disarmament and Non-Proliferation' at the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA), and held a series of meetings at the Ministry of External Affairs of India in the context of preparations for the 2017 Moscow Nonproliferation Conference.

Moscow, Russia - Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed Decree No 124 On the Composition of the Advisory Board under the Security Council of the Russian Federation. The decree reappoints Anton Khlopkov, Director of the Center for Energy and Security Studies (CENESS), as member of the Board.

The keynote presentation was delivered by Additional Secretary for UN&EC of the Pakistani MFA Tasnim Aslam, additional comments were made by Pakistani MFA's Director for Disarmament Kamran Akhtar and Director for Export Control Zafar Ali. Member of the IMEMO RAS Directorate and fmr. Director of Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Vyacheslav Trubnikov took part in the followed discussion.

Islamabad, Pakistan - On August 22-24 CENESS held a series of meetings with the leadership of Pakistani Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Strategic Plans Division (SPD), think-tanks, as well as with members of Islamabad's expert community. CENESS Director Anton Khlopkov has also made presentations on the issues of NSG, CTBT and strategic stability in South Asia during three workshops organised by Pakistani research institutes.

Moscow, Russia - Center for Energy and Security Studies (CENESS) held workshop on Ten Years of the Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism (GICNT): Strengths, Challenges and the Way Forward'. The goal of the meeting was to discuss the findings of the report of the same name, which was presented by its co-authors, Jonathan Herbach, Senior Policy Officer within the Security Policy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, and Tytti Erasto, Nuclear Arms Control Expert at the SaferGlobe Finland.

Moscow, Russia - The Center for Energy and Security Studies (CENESS) and the Russian Foreign Ministry held the high-level workshop on 'Conference on Establishing a Middle East WMD-Free Zone: Devising the Next Steps'. The meeting's participants included representatives from the majority of region's states, as well as from Russia, the USA, the EU, UN and the League of Arab States Secreteriats. The informal brainstorming meeting to discuss the situation with the Conference on Establishment of the WMD-Free Zone in the Middle East took place in the Russian MFA's House of Receptions.
