| CONCURRENT SESSION 5: Fissile Material Cut-off Treaty (FMCT): How to Overcome Sensitivities and Make Progress |

 Sergey BATSANOV, Director, Geneva Office, Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs; former Soviet Union and Russian Federation Ambassador to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva (1989-1993), Russian Federation/ Switzerland  Ambassador Batsanov worked on the whole range
of arms control, disarmament, non-proliferation and outer space-related issues
in the Soviet MFA. In 1989-1993 was leading the Soviet, then Russian
delegations to the Conference on Disarmament. Participated in a number of
US-Soviet Ministerials and Summits, in numerous session of General Assembly and
other UN bodies. Participated in a number of conferences to review the operation
of various disarmament treaties (Review Conferences), such as NPT, BWC, and CWC. In Pugwash Amb. Batsanov is dealing
with issues of nuclear disarmament, BMD, CTBT, Iranian nuclear file (Track 2
