Dr. Goldschmidt is a Non-resident Senior Associate at the Carnegie
Endowment for International Peace. He is a member of the Board of Directors of
Vinçotte Nuclear Safety (VNS), a consulting company in the field of nuclear
safety and security. He is also a member of the European Nuclear Society (ENS)
High Scientific Council. Goldschmidt was the Deputy Director General, Head of the Department of
Safeguards, at the International Atomic Energy Agency from 1999 to 2005. Before
the IAEA, Goldschmidt was, for 12 years, Director General of SYNATOM (Société Belge des
Combustibles Nucléaires). He is the author of more
than 100 publications on nuclear matters, nicluding Safeguards
