Vladimir VORONKOV

Vladimir Voronkov is a distinguished Russian diplomat. He holds rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary. Cavalier of the ‘For Merit to the Fatherland’ Order of IV class. Was appointed Head of a newly-established Bureau in the UN structure - the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Office - in 2017.

Throughout his diplomatic career, Ambassador Voronkov has held a variety of international assignments as well as held a range of high-level posts in the Central Office of the MFA of Russia. From 2011 to 2017 – Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the International Organizations in Vienna. 2008 – 2011 – Director of the Department of European Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. 2005 – 2008 - Deputy Permanent representative of the Russian Federation to the OSCE. 2002 – 2005 – Deputy Director of the personnel Department, and from 200 to 2002 Ambassador Voronkov was at the Russian Embassy in Poland with the rank of Minister-Counselor.

Started his foreign service at the MFA of Russia in 1989.

He graduated from the Moscow state University. M. V. Lomonosov. Candidate of historical Sciences.
