Nasser SAGHAFI-AMERI
Saghafi-Ameri Nasser is, by
profession, a diplomat. He retired from the Iranian Foreign Service in
September 2000 after 32 years of service. He is currently a Senior Fellow at
the Center for Strategic Research in Tehran. During his diplomatic carrier he
served as Second Secretary at the Iranian Embassy in Ottawa,
as Counselor at the Embassy in Stockholm, and as
Minister Counselor at the Iranian embassy in New Delhi. He was also a member of Iranian
delegations to the United Nations Conference on Disarmament in Geneva
and in the First Committee of the UN General Assembly in New York. In Iran
he was the Head of Strategic Studies Group at the Institute for Political and
International Studies (IPIS) and later Director of the Central
Asia and Caucasus Studies at the IPIS. His scholarly activity and research
work is mostly focused on the Iranian Foreign Policy, International Security
and Nuclear Disarmament. He has authored several publications including five
books, some book chapters and nearly 100 articles published in the Iranian and
international journals.
