Victor ESIN

Gen. Esin is a Russian top-rank military officer and a scholar. In retirement Victor Esin continues his work as a military analyst that has over a hundred of publications. His research interests include nuclear disarmament, strategic stability and Russian military reform.

Retired from the Army in 1997. In 1998-2002 he served in the Administration of the Russian Federation Security Council, where his remit included the security of Russian non-strategic nuclear weapons.

Gen. Esin worked in the Soviet/Russian Defense Ministry’s agencies, including at the RVSN. In 1989 he was appointed Deputy head of RVSN General Staff. In 1994 he was promoted to Head of RVSN General Staff – First Deputy Commander of RVSN.

During the Cuban Missile Crisis was Engineer, Acting Chief Engineer of SS-4 Sandal Missile Regiment in the rank of Lieutenant/ Senior Lieutenant and deployed in Sagua La Grande, Santa Clara Province, Cuba, as part of 51st Missile Division.

Graduated from the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia. Holds a PhD in Military Science.
