Mikael AGASANDYAN

Mikael Agasandyan was appointed Deputy Director of the Department of International Organizations at the MFA of Russia in 2015. Scope of his work includes Security Council issues, including MENA, UNSC sanctions, the Balkans. From 2010 to 2015 Mikael Agasandyan worked at the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the United Nations in capacity of political counselor/political coordinator for UNSC issues.

Michael Agasandyan served in the Department of Middle East and North Africa at the MFA of Russia Central Office from 2000 to 2003. In 2007 he was transferred to the Department of International Organizations - Security Council and UNGA political issues division.

He started his diplomatic career in 1996. His primary assignment was to the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Tunisia, where he worked in different capacities twice (1996 - 2000 and 2003 – 2007).

Graduated from the Institute of Asian and African Countries under Moscow State University, Department of Arabic studies. Speaks English, French and Arabic.
