Oliver MEIER

Dr. Oliver Meier assumed the position of Deputy Head of the International Security Research Division in 2013. His expertise includes control of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons, multilateral disarmament and non-proliferation, Iran’s nuclear program, and European security. 

From 2005 to 2013 he worked as Senior Researcher at the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy at the University of Hamburg (IFSH) and International Correspondent and Representative of the Arms Control Association.

He also served as Staffer in the office of a Member of the German Bundestag (2003 – 2005). Prior to that he was Senior Researcher at the Verification Research, Training and Information Centre (VERTIC) in London, United Kingdom (1999 – 2002). From 1996 to 1999 - Senior Researcher at the Berlin Information Centre for Transatlantic Security. He also was a fellow at the Center for Arms Control and International Security at Stanford University.

He holds a PhD in political science from the Free University of Berlin.
