Benno LAGGNER

Ambassador Benno Laggner was appointed Chair of the Nuclear Suppliers Group in March 2017 to serve in this capacity for the 2017-2018 term of Switzerland’s chairmanship in the organization.

From October 2011, Mr Laggner bore the title of Ambassador in his function as the Head of the Task Force for Nuclear Disarmament and Nonproliferation. From May 2012 he has served as Head of the Division for Security Policy at the Directorate of Political Affairs in Bern. Since August 2016, he has been Deputy Head of the Swiss Delegation for security policy issues to the OSCE in Vienna with the title of Minister.

In 2007 he assumed a post of Head of Policital Affairs Division III at the Swiss Foreign Ministry. Deputy Chef de Cabinet of the President of the 65th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York (2010).

Benno Lagner joined the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs in 1994 and his first assignments included working in Bern and Ankara. In 2000, he was transferred to the Swiss Mission to the UN in New York, and in 2004 to the Embassy in Berlin.
