Moscow, Russia. The Russian capital hosted the 2012 Moscow Nonproliferation Conference: Nuclear Energy, Disarmament and Nonproliferation, organized by the Center for Energy and Security Studies (CENESS). The conference was attended by some 200 researchers, scientists, diplomats and government experts working on the problems of safe and secure development of nuclear energy, nuclear nonproliferation and arms control. Conference's participants were representing around 40 countries of Europe, Middle East, South and South-East Asia and Pacific Region, including key international organizations in the field. More info

The presentations were made by Bernd Kubbig, Project Director at the Peace Research Institute (Frankfurt), Sven-Eric Fikenscher, Research Fellow at Goethe University (Frankfurt), and Christian Weidlich, Project Coordinator at the Peace Research Institute (Frankfurt).

The presentation was made by Dr. Sig Hecker, co-director of the Center for International Security and Cooperation of Stanford University and an emeritus director of Los Alamos National Laboratory.The introductory remarks were made by CENESS Director Anton Khlopkov, who has returned from Pyongyang just recently. Moscow, Russia - Center for Energy and Security Studies (CENESS) held a workshop on The 2012 Conference on the Establishment of a WMD-Free Zone in the Middle East: Obstacles and Possible Outcomes'. The presentation was made by Amb. Sergey Batsanov, Director of the Geneva Office of Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs, who also was leading the Soviet, then Russian delegations to the Conference on Disarmament in 1989-1993.

Moscow, Russia - CENESS Director Anton Khlopkov made a presentation during a workshop on "The IAEA Report, Iran's Nuclear Program and the future of Non-Proliferation" , organized by Heinrich Böll Foundation's Moscow office. Other presentation was made by Oliver Meier, International Representative of Arms Control Association (ACA) and a researcher with the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy at the University of Hamburg.
